Some artist work for the pure joy of creation. Others find joy when people think enough of the creation to buy it.
I would like to believe that most Artist today share both traits.

But whatever the case may be, It’s always good to know what the public is buying at any particular time.

In other words, Which Subjects Sell the most art and What’s the current Preferred Medium?

Call it Economics, Supply and Demand or Just Plain Customer Appeal, here’s what research in the UK and USA show to be the current Top Selling Subjects and Mediums for 2015.

3. Modern or semi-abstract landscapes.
4. Abstracts.
5. Dogs.
6. Figure studies (excluding nudes).
7. Seascapes, harbor, and beach scenes.
8. Wildlife.

Most Popular Mediums
1. Limited edition offset-litho prints.
2. Limited edition giclee prints.

Conclusion:

Although it is good to sell your work, it is nothing like selling a piece to a buyer that really appreciates the work, but I feel artists should be the touch carriers leading people to new ideas in compositional design and be true to their vision. True artists will produce their work regardless of a sell or not.
